Human
Performance Technology
Human
Performance Technology (HPT), also known as Human Performance
Improvement (HPI), is a human resource strategy that uses a systematic
approach to analyze current and desired levels of employee and/or
organizational performance. The analysis begins by identifying
current performance, specifying desired performance, and acknowledging
gaps between current and desired performance. Next, the person
using HPT begins to explore the causes for the performance gaps.
Once the causes are identified, appropriate solutions are implemented.
Measurements of business outcomes (such as sales, profitability, and
market share) are taken at several points along the way, and
improvements can easily be seen. Alignment of individual
motivation and performance to intermediate and long-term business
outcomes is critical to the HPT methodology.
The
LeaderStrength SystemTM incorporates HPT along with other methodologies.
It is a way of putting HPT in the hands of the learner without using HPT
language. In alignment with current brain science and the new
sciences, we use positive attention and language in our application.
We are careful to maintain focus on the desired business outcome, and we
don’t use the word “gap.” Instead, we promote the
understanding that leaders are continually building and adapting to
create the results they want. |
